8 Days of Thanks Day 1: Thanksgiving Traditions

In honor of Thanksgiving I’m joining Lisa from GoofballMommy and several other fantastic bloggers for 8 Days of Thanks! It’s our very own Thanksgiving Bash and we’ll be sharing all kinds of fabulous stories, DIY, Recipes and more! Up first for day 1 we’re sharing our Thanksgiving traditions.

Traditions in our house are mainly centered on food and why wouldn’t they be? Food is what brings families together, that’s why there is so much of it during the holidays. We didn’t always have traditions. It was the same old thing every year but there wasn’t anything that we did that was worthy of being called a “Tradition”. That is until about three years ago.

Hubby and I were talking about the first Thanksgiving we ever spent together. The first half of the day I spent with my family and friends, while he did the same. Later that evening we met up and we each had a plate of food we had saved for the other. I don’t remember what I had but I’m pretty sure it was just turkey with all the fixing but the plate he gave me… it had a huge slice of Turducken on it! Now for those of you who may not know a Turducken is a chicken inside of a duck inside of a turkey. Yes I know it’s a lot of meat. So three years ago we decided we wanted a turducken for out Thanksgiving dinner. So after so searching online we found a place that could ship it to us and we’d have it in plenty of time.

It was so good and the kids enjoyed it so much they asked if we could have it every year so now… we do!
